Every time you try to start a new passion, you are hit with a wall of confusing beginner traps, fake 5-star Amazon reviews, and influencers paid to tell you an expensive starter kit is a “must-have.” We built iNeedHobby out of sheer frustration. We got tired of wasting our hard-earned money on overpriced, low-quality bundles that just end up collecting dust. Our mission is simple: to be the ultimate bullshit-detectors for beginners and veterans alike.
Who We Are We aren’t a massive corporate media company, and we don’t wear white lab coats. iNeedHobby is a decentralized collective of serial hobbyists working from home across different districts. We are data nerds, deal hunters, and obsessive researchers who came together over a shared passion for making hobbies accessible and affordable.
How We Track the Data (Our Reality-Check Protocol) We don’t pretend to personally buy and test 10,000 craft supplies in a sterile lab. Instead, our superpower is community-driven research.
- The Network: We talk constantly. We pull insights from private WhatsApp groups, local meetup Facebook communities, and Discord servers with friends, family, and strangers who actually do this stuff every weekend.
- The Deep Dive: We spend up to 40 hours a week digging through niche Reddit threads to find long-term failure points on expensive gear, and we analyze independent YouTube teardown videos to see what starter kits are actually worth the money.
- The Metrics That Matter: We grade hobby gear on two strict rules: The Beginner Trap Warning (is it an overpriced bundle full of cheap filler?) and The Dust-Collector Scale (is it too frustrating to actually use?).
